Need

To have a correct network latency reported through the monitoring process

Challenge

Network latency reported to the dashboard was skewed with the latency numbers fluctuating in the range of 2µs to 2s resulting in incorrect reporting

Solution

• Studied the network infrastructure and monitoring process to understand the root cause of the issue
• Recommended/implemented various monitoring parameters in different parts of the network
• Started reporting a narrow range of network latency figures as opposed to the huge deviation reported earlier

Outcome

By adopting the above recommendations, the customer was able to publish a narrow band of network latency figures improving the reporting from 95% to 99.9%
